Onboarding

How a participating merchant joins the network.

A controlled, documented onboarding process. Each step is designed to verify business legitimacy and ensure clean integration with the redemption flow.

Application and verification

You submit business credentials. 4Square Systems verifies the business and confirms alignment with platform standards. A participation agreement is executed before any technical work begins.

Technical integration

Install the 4Square Systems checkout integration on your platform. Most merchants are integrated in less than a week with developer documentation, sandbox access, and direct technical support.

Configuration and testing

Test the redemption flow end to end in the sandbox environment. Confirm cart amount handling, code issuance, and post‑checkout reporting.

Production activation

Once the test flow is verified, activation moves to production. 4Square Systems monitors the first live transactions and provides reconciliation reports on a defined cadence.

The Integration Architecture

How the integration sits in your checkout.

4Square Systems integrates at the checkout step as an alternative purchase path. When the customer selects 4Square at checkout, the participating merchant’s cart total is passed to 4Square Systems, which then conducts the customer card transaction directly with the cardholder as merchant of record.

Once 4Square Systems issues the redemption code and applies it to the cart, the checkout completes on the participating merchant’s platform. Order fulfilment and inventory remain entirely the participating merchant’s responsibility, as with any other checkout method.

Important: Commercial arrangements between 4Square Systems and participating merchants are governed by separate agreements. The customer card transaction is the cardholder’s purchase of a digital good from 4Square Systems; settlement of merchant agreements is conducted independently of the customer card transaction.
